Knowledgeable in many diverse areas of business law,
and Schafer and Weiner’s top real estate lawyer,
Daniel V. Smith has represented debtors, trustees,
mortgage companies, title companies, receivers, banks,
and creditors in real estate and bankruptcy actions. He is
also an active commercial litigator. A graduate of the
Wayne State University Law School in 1998, Smith also has practiced at Dickinson Wright, one of Michigan’s largest
law firms. He was the lead attorney on the published case Restaco, Inc. v. AMI Reichert, LLC
356 F. Supp. 835 (N.D. Ohio 2005).
Smith also has been a guest lecturer for the Metro Detroit Bar Association, the
Michigan Osteopathic Doctors Association on insolvency planning, the Lorman
Business Institute on Mortgage Foreclosure Techniques, and has taught at
Davenport Business College.
Smith has also argued successfully in front of the Michigan Court of Appeals on a multi-million dollar real estate development case which is published at Stocker v. Tri-Mount/Bay Harbor Bldg. Co., Inc. 2005 WL 2290582.
