Nationally recognized as a frequent lecturer on cutting edge topics of asset protection, Daniel J. Weiner partnered with Arnold Schafer in 1985 to form Schafer and Weiner, a law firm specializing in all forms of business reorganizations. As a 1980 graduate of Hofstra University School of Law,
where he earned special litigation awards and honors in addition to his J.D. degree, Weiner was immediately admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 1980 and later to the Florida Bar in 1983. Weiner has completed reorganizations of well-known resort hotels… major manufacturing companies…and national retailers. With comfort in the courtroom, he also has tried numerous large cases for publicly traded companies and has successfully litigated for gaming institutions… airline companies… and real estate developers.

In addition to his proven track record in the courtroom, Weiner has been appointed Special Assistant Attorney General to represent the Michigan Department of Transportation in complex highway condemnation matters. He also counts being appointed to the Mediation Panel of the United States Bankruptcy Court for Michigan’s Eastern District among his numerous and
varied credits.

In charge of Schafer and Weiner’s recruitment and quality training programs, Weiner has demonstrated passionate commitment to excellence in the firm’s bankruptcy and litigation practices. There’s high demand for his extraordinary counsel and expertise as a speaker for many organizations at the local, national and international levels, including…

• Export Development Canada;
• Young Entrepreneurs Organization and World Entrepreneurs Organization;
• Detroit Bar Association;
• Michigan State Medical Society; and the
• Federal Bar Association.

When not acting as a sought-after guest lecturer, Weiner has co-authored articles on lender protections for leading law journals. And he continues providing the type of creative solutions to bankruptcy and insolvency challenges that produce outstanding outcomes for clients.
