Since joining Schafer and Weiner, PLLC as a law clerk in
1993, Jason W. Bank has specialized in Chapter 11
business reorganizations, out-of-court workouts and
complex consumer bankruptcy proceedings. Named as an
associate in 1997 and a partner in 2003, Bank is now
widely recognized as an expert in these fields. Bank is an adjunct professor on bankruptcy at Michigan State University College of Law.
Through his varied experience, Bank has handled every
phase of business and consumer bankruptcy proceedings — from start to finish —
and has represented debtors, creditors and trustees in several high profile cases.
Bank has assisted with the successful reorganizations of a wide range of
businesses… from small retail shops to large automotive suppliers.
Bank earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan with a
concentration in political science and communications. Then, in 1997, Bank
graduated from Wayne State University Law School, where he received the Bronze
Key Certificate and obtained honors in legal research and writing and moot court
competitions.
Bank has lectured extensively to several law, business, and medical organizations
on bankruptcy related topics, insolvency planning, and revised Article 9 of the
Uniform Commercial Code. Bank is a member of the American Bankruptcy
Institute, the State Bar of Michigan (Business Law Section) and the Detroit
Metropolitan Bar Association (Debtor/Creditor Rights Subcommittee).
