For a young associate, Kim Hillary has experience and ability beyond her years. Her resume includes an internship with the Honorable Gerald E. Rosen at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, a law clerk position with the Honorable Frederick L. Harris and James B. Brady at the 47th District Court, and an internship at the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office where she assisted with misdemeanor and felony criminal trials and property foreclosure actions.
Hillary graduated cum laude from Wayne State University Law School in 2004, twice receiving Bronze Key recognition for academic excellence as well as the David Adamany Constitutional Law Scholar Award for outstanding achievement in Constitutional Law. At Wayne State University, Hillary was an associate editor for the Journal of Law in Society and a member of the Student Trial Advocacy Program.
At Schafer and Weiner, Hillary has represented numerous small business and individual debtors in bankruptcy workouts and liquidations. In addition, she excels in all manner of commercial litigation and negotiation, and specializes in representing automotive suppliers as creditors or debtors, both inside and outside of the bankruptcy arena.
Hillary was the contributing author to Bankruptcy and Its Impact on LLC Membership Interests, published by The Institute of Continuing Legal Education, 2006 LLC & Business Entity Update as well as the extensive revision of Partnership and Partner Bankruptcy, published in Collier Bankruptcy Practice Guide, Release 73, Chapter 20 (Nov. 2006).
