Few attorneys have the insight of a Certified Public
Accountant when it comes to bankruptcy law and
commercial litigation. But Leon N. Mayer brings this
unique talent to the negotiating table at Schafer and
Weiner. He joined the firm after practicing public
accounting for five years and then graduating summa cum
laude from the Detroit College of Law (DCL) at Michigan
State University in 1999. Mayer received many
achievement awards — in criminal law, commercial
transactions, basic income taxation and professional responsibility — during his
time at DCL.
He was also a Dean Charles H. King Scholar.
As a member of the DCL Law Review, Mayer authored a casenote analyzing the
funding of special education in Michigan, just another addition to his growing
list of accomplishments.
