John Stockdale, Jr. Settles Oral Partnership Case
Two individuals formed a partnership to acquire an existing company. One of the individuals expected to receive an interest in the acquired business and a job for his otherwise unpaid services to the acquisition. When neither materialized, John Stockdale, Jr. drafted a complaint on the individual’s behalf and invited the prospective defendants to pre-litigation mediation. The mediation resulted in a settlement for a lump sum payment to the individual by the defendants while avoiding the significant expense of litigating the dispute.
