Schafer and Weiner, PLLC Settles Shareholder Oppression Case

September, 2017

Joseph K. Grekin and John Stockdale, Jr. successfully represented a minority shareholder in her minority shareholder oppression suit against her sibling-shareholders involving a 140-year-old construction business.  Joe and John filed a motion to appoint a receiver over the business and while an evidentiary hearing on that motion was pending, mediated the matter to conclusion.  As a result of their actions, the client’s minority business interest was redeemed for 87% of its estimated fair value (exclusive of discounts for lack of marketability or minority interest).
