Schafer and Weiner Resolves Real Property Tax Dispute

In connection with a Macomb County strip mall’s bankruptcy proceeding, John Stockdale, Jr. and Brandi M. Dobbs brought a petition before the Michigan Tax Tribunal to reduce the taxable value of the strip mall and bring it in-line with the valuation determined by the bankruptcy court. Schafer and Weiner brought additional add-on value to the debtor by utilizing the same valuations obtained for bankruptcy purposes in the real property tax matter. As a result, Schafer and Weiner saved the debtor more than $30,000 in 2021 real estate taxes and those savings will inure to the debtor in future tax years.
